Cartwheel welcomes back Cultures in Harmony to the Philippines!

Cartwheel Foundation welcomes back Cultures in Harmony (CiH) musicians to the Philippines!

Building on the legacy of a strong partnership dating back to 2006, Cartwheel and CiH are joining forces once again, this time to contribute to the healing, recovery and rebuilding efforts for the Tagbanuas of Culion, Palawan who have been affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

On the week of August 13-17, 2014, dynamic CiH musicians Rebecca Schlappich (violin), Kimberly Patterson (cello), Frank Shaw (viola) and Danielle Kuhlmann (French horn) will be conducting musical and cultural exchange workshops with Tagbanua musicians in Culion.

The learning exchange will culminate in a concert entitled “Cultures in Harmony: Building Structures of Hope with Filipino Indigenous Communities” on August 21, 2014 at 7:00pm in the Ayala Museum, where CiH will be joined by esteemed musicians from the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

This collaboration is also in celebration of Cartwheel’s 15 years of nurturing Filipino heritage through culturally relevant education, and made possible through the cooperation of the Ayala Museum, Dakila Foundation, MAGIS Creative Spaces and La Inmaculada Concepcion Parish of Culion, Palawan.
